YOUR ONLY REAL HOPE
Ever wonder how many abortions
have been committed in your state?

Well, several states in the U.S. have made it easy to find out, and some have not.

Start by looking up a list of states with links to each state's official website through www.US.gov. You can go to each state's website and do a search for "abortion statistics" (or abortion report, or vital statistics, etc.), but here's how easy or difficult it was on a day in early 2009 to actually find that info:
Guide:

(Reminder -- errors are possible, and your results might be better than those below)

E = easy to find. Plus signs mean very, very easy and quick to find.

H = it was hard, but not impossible to find. Took a long time, though. Should have been easier.

:( = that's a sideways UNhappy face, because it was IMPOSSIBLE to find abortion statistics (some state websites didn't even show any results on a search just for the word, "abortion")

  • Alabama = :(
  • Alaska = E+
  • Arizona = E+
  • California = :(
  • Colorado = :(
  • Connecticut = :(
  • Delaware = E++
  • District of Columbia/Washington, D.C. = E
  • Florida = :(
  • Georgia = :(
  • Hawaii = E++
  • Idaho = E++
  • Illinois = E++
  • Indiana = E++
  • Iowa = E+
  • Kansas = E++
  • Kentucky = :(
  • Louisiana = H
  • Maine = E only for 1999 & is :( for current statistics.
  • Maryland = :(
  • Massachusetts = :(
  • Michigan = E
  • Minnesota = E++
  • Mississippi = H
  • Missouri = H (yes, they do not make it easy to find)
  • Montana = E
  • Nebraska = E++
  • Nevada = :) Would have been E, but the actual abortion statistic pages, which are listed in the table of contents, are NOT included there in the entire report.
  • New Hampshire = :(
  • New Jersey = E+
  • New Mexico = :(
  • New York = E++
  • North Carolina = H
  • North Dakota = E++
  • Ohio = E++
  • Oklahoma = E++
  • Pennsylvania = E++
  • Rhode Island = E++
  • South Carolina = E only for 1998; H for current info; this website is unfortunately linked to a lot of pro-abortion propaganda
  • South Dakota = :(
  • Tennessee = E
  • Texas = H
  • Utah = :(
  • Vermont = :( and would have been an E+ BUT the links DON'T work
  • Virginia = E for 1999 but H for current statistics
  • Washington State = E++
  • West Virginia = H, but has the BEST prenatal photos as part of its "Women's Right to Know Fetal Development" required education for pregnant moms considering abortion
  • Wisconsin = E+
  • Wyoming = H
  • U.S. Territories and Outlying Areas: The Puerto Rico website is completely in Spanish, with no English option. The American Samoa, Guam, Midway Islands, and U.S. Virgin Islands websites did not seem to include any Vital Statistics reports.
